These mounting plates accept 5x 1 to 3 watt LEDs (in series).

5 LEDs on a single small mounting plate really means you do have to have this fixed to something acting as a larger heatsink at least if you are going to be running them full on for any reasonable period of time. That's why there are mounting holes on the board, the bottom side is exposed aluminium to make a good thermal contact.
See my other listings for double sided heatsink tape which you can use to stick this to your heatsink (or big metal thing used as a heatsink), you can also stick a small bit under the center of each LED.
