This is a dupont-type crimping connector commonly used for servo wire to wire connections (ie, so you can easily connect and disconnect your servos).
To crimp Dupont connectors they are large enough that you can get away with needle-nose pliers for the occasional job, or if you need to crimp them more often then you'd ideally you will need a crimping tool, sometimes I stock them (see my other listings) but if not Jaycar does.
Each set includes:
6 Female pins (3 to use, 3 to mess up while you are getting the hang of crimping)
6 Male pins (3 to use, and another 3 to mess up)
1 Straight Connector
1 Keyed Connector
1 Housing
What you do, is first get your wires crimped on both source side and servo side (which you use for which, male or female, is up to you), insert in the appropriate order into the straight connector, then insert that connector into the unkeyed end of the housing - this connector will lock permanently into the housing, it can't be removed later.
Finally you insert the remaining wires into the keyed connector so that when the connector is inserted into the keyed end of the housing it is in the correct orientation and everything becomes.... connected.
The keyed connector end does not lock permanently into the housing and can be easily plugged and unplugged at will, the key ensuring that you can't put it in upside down on a drunken night of robotics ;-)
