Details

This is the very common “CNC Shield V4” for Arduino Nano, it accepts an Arduino Nano, and 3 Stepstick type Stepper drivers (none are included, you are purchasing the shield only).

ATTENTION! Despite being very common, this board design has some issues you must be happy to deal with

Please fully read this page before purchasing.

The barrel jack (power socket) should never be given more than 12v!

Do not connect/disconnect motors when powered up!

Pin Mappings

The Arduino Pins controlling step and direction may be different from what is in your code, if you got code from somewhere already.  You need to be able to alter your code to use the below.

Arduino Pin Function
D2 X Direction
D3 Y Direction
D4  Z Direction
D5  X Step
D6 Y Step
D7 Z Step

Microstepping Suggested Fix

There is a design flaw on this board which prevents the microstepping jumpers from doing anything, it will always be a full-step.

If microstepping is needed, I would probably do it like this by adding resistors to each of the configuration pins, it will I think “reverse” the logic of the jumpers though (so no jumper for a “1” and jumper for a “0”) but you will be able to use the jumpers to control the microstepping.  The value of the pullup resistors won’t be critical.  I think I would use surface mount resistors as I have shown below, 0805 should be able to fit in there.

Power Supply

The DC socket powers the Nano, and the Stepper Driver logic, you should never connect more than 12v to the DC jack.

If your stepper motors require a higher voltage (up to 24v), or separate supply, remove the “Mot_VOT_Sel” jumper and then you can connect a dedicated motor supply to the Mot_VCC and Mot_GND pins (there are 2 pins each). NEVER  have the Mot_VOT_Sel jumper installed if you have connected to the Mot_VCC / Mot_GND pins.
