A mini analog joystick/thumbstick complete with it's knob and a push activated button like you might find on game console controllers.
Electrically these are simply two (10k) potentiometers one for left/right and one for up/down, which gives you full analog movement 360 degrees. And a tact switch which is activated by pressing on the knob.
You of course read the position of each potentiometer using your favourite micro controller's analog inputs, and calculate the position from them, what you do with that information is up to you )
This stick is mounted on a convenient PCB with mounting holes and a 5 pin connector for:
Gnd
Vcc (marked +5v, but whatever you want really)
X wiper
Y wiper
Switch (which connects to Gnd when pressed)
Note: there is an unpopulated pad "R5" on the top surface of the PCB, I have no idea what the designer put that there for, it seems to connect between Vcc and Gnd so may be for an optional capacitor despite the R marking. Leave it unpopulated will be fine )
