These small ones work for grabbing onto for example an SOIC leg (but probably not two next to each other). For grabbing wires see my "hook style" test clips instead (or alligator clips).
To attach your flying wire, just pull off the cap, thread wire through the hole, and solder to the tab inside, cap back on, job done.
