These are a simple screwless wire joiner, lift up the levers and insert the stripped wire you want to connect together, then push the levers back down to clamp onto the wires.

Supposedly these are rated at a massive 32A, but personally I would be sure to test carefully if using more than 10A, Chinese Amps tend to be worth less than usual )
I use these only for 50v and under stuff naturally. Sorry I can not advise you on suitability for mains connection purposes, if you have to ask, you are not qualified.
